Ice

Ice
Ice is a dark bay mare with a white mane and tail, a white diamond on her forehead, and white socks on her hind legs. She has a tiny spot of white on her rump right at the top of her tail. LBH staff named Ice for her markings, which look similar to icing. Her age is unknown. Ice gladly approaches our staff for treats but she will turn or walk away if we try to touch her. We are working on this, although it should be noted that if Ice is caught she stands quietly once haltered. She would be best with an experienced owner or someone with access to a good trainer. Since Ice is currently a nursing mother, she is available for on-site adoption only until her foal is weaned. After that, she will be available for regular adoption.

Fancy

Fancy
Fancy is a chestnut mare with a reddish mane and tail, and she came to us with the Owls Head herd. Fancy's age is unknown, but it has been estimated at approximately 2 years. We believe she may be with foal. Fancy can be caught and haltered, and we are working on basic training. She would be best fit with an experienced owner or a home with an experienced trainer.

Jewel

Jewel
Jewel came to A Little Bit of Heaven as a bred mare with the Owls Head herd. Her age is unknown, and she was named by LBH staff because her white blaze ends in a diamond shape on her forehead, and her tail has a slightly purple tint. Jewel halters and leads fine, but she sometimes displays a slight limp. She loves treats and attention, and is one of our friendliest mares. Jewel is currently nursing a colt who should be ready to wean within the next few months. Since she and her foal must stay together until then, if Jewel is adopted she must be boarded at our facility until the pair are ready to be separated.

Personal Call

Call
Personal Call is a 12 year old OTTB, still registered with the jockey club. He raced until 2008, winning a few of his races. When he arrived at A Little Bit of Heaven we had no information on him or his past and spent hours researching information on him. It was obvious that he was in the wrong hands prior to being rescued. He was very malnourished, and needed vet care and farrier work. Call has a stifle injury that prevents him from hard riding, and is best suited as a pleasure horse for gentle trail rides.

Blaze

Blaze
Blaze is another Owls Head gelding whose age is unknown. He was named by LBH staff for the large wide blaze down the center of his face. Blaze has not yet been haltered and is in need of training. His breed is not known, but he is chestnut in color with a red mane and tail and white spots down the line of his back. Blaze can be caught and haltered, will take treats from our hands, and enjoys being groomed. We are currently working on basic training. He would do well with an experienced owner.

Dolly

Dolly
Dolly is an 8 year old white arabian cross pony mare who was still nursing a yearling colt upon arrival at LBH. The pair were successfully separated, and Dolly is available for adoption to intermediate or experienced riders. She was trained English and can walk, trot, and canter on the correct leads. We have not yet tested her for lead changes, but Dolly does know one-rein stops and is very responsive to leg yielding. She is still learning direct reining. She does not neck rein. Dolly does ride under Western saddle, but "feels English." Dolly is gentle, friendly, and loves treats and children. She does, however, have a habit of escaping electric fences and often moves herself from pen to pen here at our facility.

Help Us Help Them

If you are interested in helping our horses directly, consider sponsorship, fostering, or even adopting!

Sponsor a Horse All of your donations directly benefit our rescue horses - from covering the cost of feed, medical care, and training, to offsetting operational expenses. It costs about $100 per day to care for one of our horses. You can help by becoming a sponsor! Many people sponsor horses on a recurring monthly basis, but one-time sponsorships are also welcome!

Foster a Horse If you have the space, time and money to temporarily care for a horse please consider fostering! By fostering a horse you assume responsibility for its care but are not committed to keeping it. Even providing a foster home for a short time saves funds and provides an open spot for another horse in need.

Adopt a Horse Most of the horses at A Little Bit of Heaven are available for adoption. If you are interested in adopting one of our horses please contact us for further details!
